Nigeria is the largest global producer of cassava, with an annual output of 45m tons that is growing annually.

However, over US$600m worth of cassava products (flour, starch, glucose and animal feed) are imported, largely as a result of uncoordinated harvest and supply constraints.

Cassava production is largely done at subsistence level with less than 5% of the produce for industrial uses.
